Lobster Bakes
What makes a perfect day? A cruise on Casco Bay and a classic Maine lobster bake! Groups of 50 to 400 can be accommodated at a private site for an afternoon or evening of feasting by the sea. Smaller groups (under 100) can take the regular Casco Bay Lines commuter ferry to Peaks Island, or charter your own boat for a little sightseeing on your own schedule. When you combine a Casco Bay Lines Lobster Bake with a private charter, you get 4 hours for the price of 3. See our Groups & Charters page for details.
From the landing at Peaks Island, it's just a short walk (about 1/8 of a mile) to Greenwood Gardens, a former turn-of-the-century summer playhouse converted into a charming, rustic event facility owned and operated by the Peaks Island Lions Club.

Here you'll enjoy a classic Down East feast of luscious lobster with all the trimmings: steamed clams, drawn butter, clam broth, corn on the cob, coleslaw, boiled potatoes, rolls, coffee, tea, punch, and fresh Maine blueberry cake. For those who prefer, steak, chicken, vegetarian and children's meals are also available. Everything is served in casual buffet style.
The site provides seating inside the playhouse building for 220 people, under the pavilion for 160, and outdoors for another 160, overlooking the harbor and the Portland skyline. Play volleyball or horseshoes, wander the island's roads and paths, or just relax and watch the boats on the bay. You can even hire a band or DJ to jazz up your lobster bake!
